Reading the post about carrot leaf and potato leaf inheritance was interesting. The possibility of plants that are both carrot leafed and potato leafed was very intriguing. And of course it is actually something I can play with since I already have seeds for a few potato leaf varieties and have seeds for some carrot leaf micros coming. Potato leaf and carrot leaf are caused by genes at different locations so in theory it is possible to produce plants that have leaves that are a combination of potato leaf and carrot leaf genes. Since the photos of possible PLCL leaves look very much like normal carrot leaves I need a way to be sure they actually are a combination of both genes.

Goal: Produce plants that are known be potato leaf and exhibit the carrot leaf phenotype.
Process: Cross a potato leaf to a carrot leaf. All F1 plants should have regular leaves since neither variety used should carry genes for the other leaf type. Select for potato leaf in the F2 this ensures that all my plants going forward are potato leaf. So any carrot leaf plants that show up will have to be PLCL plants.

A friend asked if we had a white micro dwarf umm maybe but not that I know of so I have second project. Create a good tasting white micro dwarf. In this project I will also be collecting recessives but this time for color. Whites are yellow flesh + green flesh + clear skin. If I start with a white and cross it to a yellow micro the F1 will have all the color genes I need. Of course I could also do the same with a green but I am unaware of any green micros that are commercial releases at this time. So creating the color is actually fairly simple, developing a flavorful one may be harder.
Goal: Creating a flavorful white micro
Process: Cross a flavorful white indet with a yellow micro dwarf. F1 should all be yellow but carry the genes for green flesh and clear skin. F2 will start to produce white colored and micros. Hopefully I will get some that are both white and micro and start to select for flavor. Or pick some that are flavorful and hope for the white color to happen.
