It didn't take much arm twisting to get me involved in this project as I am loving my micro dwarfs. After reading and chatting and reading some more I decided to try some crosses using some new to me full size indeterminate tomatoes. Those tomatoes are:

Large Barred Boar an OP from Wild Boar Farms who describes it as "8-12 oz. fruit, Early to mid-early. Like most dark tomatoes, this is one of my first ripe tomatoes each season. 65-75 days. Indet. regular leaf, grows fairly stocky and not as tall as most indet. Flattened med, beefsteak fruit. Good choice for marginal tomato climates. Pink brown with metallic green stripes. Very meaty pink flesh that is very flavorful. Originated from F-2 Black and Brown Boar. The only large tomato in a row of 200. First large striped tomato I had ever seen at the time. "
My plants came from the Master Gardeners plant sale so seed source is unknown

Blush bred by Artisan Tomatoes I have seen it listed as both an OP and a hybrid... the Artisan site describes it as true breeding. This is a larger grape tomato not quite saladette size. Flavor is described as very sweet, some say fruity. it is yellow/orange with red blush. At 70 days it is pushing the limits of my climate but the seeds were on sale and it sounded intriguing... Seeds from Johnny's

Tigerella 55- 65 days heirloom This is not the large Mr Stripey but rather the small billiard ball sized red orange tomato with yellow stripes and a flavor described as tangy or tart in the kindest descriptions, watery and bland are also often used. They are always described as round. I have wanted to try this one for a while as something different... Seeds from Pinetree.

The crosses I decided on are:
  1. Micro Tom x Large Barred Boar
  2. Micro Tom x Blush
  3. Yellow Canary x Tigerella - Tigerella is an early source of stripes, nice round shape it could be interesting to look at even if not very tasty to modern palates. I picked Yellow Canary as it is listed as being good tasting so that may help the flavor...
